Elias D. Krell Assistant Professor of Women's Studies
Elias Krell, after completing a two-year César Chávez Postdoc at Dartmouth, joins the faculty of the Women’s Studies Program at Vassar College on a two-year postdoctoral fellowship through the Consortium for Faculty Diversity. Krell received a PhD in Performance Studies from Northwestern University, along with two graduate certificates in Gender & Sexuality Studies and Teaching. Their current book manuscript centers the voice as a sonic lens for the performance practices of contemporary transgender-identified musicians in North America. Krell has published in the Journal of Popular Music Studies (2013), Trans Bodies/Trans Selves (Oxford University Press 2014), The Oxford Handbook of Voice Studies (2015), and has work forthcoming in various scholarly journals, encyclopedias, and edited volumes. They are also a prolific composer and performer.
