Introduced on Matthew Vassar’s 219th birthday, April 29, 2011, A Documentary Chronicle of Vassar College was completed to the end of 2001 during the sesquicentennial year, 2011. It will continue by 10-year increments into the future.

1895, July 6 The college announced acquisition of 200 acres adjacent to the college property to be used for "intermittent filtration," a new plan for disposing of the college’s sewage advocated by a new alumna trustee, Ellen Swallow Richards '70.
