Upcoming Liberty League Championships, Times Two

Tennis will take place on the Joss Tennis Courts on Saturday and Sunday morning beginning at 9:00 a.m., with Vassar, Hobart, Rensselaer, St. Lawrence, Skidmore, and Union vying for the title. If the championship plays out as it has in each of the prior four seasons, the host Brewers will meet Skidmore in the title match. Skidmore’s Thoroughbreds hold a 3-1 edge in what has become an intense rivalry, with Vassar’s title coming in 2007, a 7-2 victory. Last season, Skidmore edged the Brewers by the narrowest of margins, winning the championship, 5-4.

The Liberty League Track and Field Championships will represent the most prestigious event to date held on Vassar’s state-of-the-art lighted eight-lane track, which was completed in 2008. Competing for the championship on Saturday April 17 at 10:00 a.m. will be the men’s and women’s teams from Vassar, Rensselaer, St. Lawrence, and Union. The Brewers finished fourth on the men’s side and third on the women’s side last season, while RPI claimed both the men’s and women’s titles.
