Tuition and Fees

You do not have to be wealthy or even well off to attend Vassar. Vassar has a very generous financial aid program and is committed to meeting 100% of the demonstrated financial need of all admitted students.

Tuition and Fees 2021/2022
  • Tuition: $61,940
  • Room and Board: $15,710
  • Fees: $930
  • Total: $78,580

Furthermore, all Vassar students have their education subsidized by donations from alumnae/i and other friends of the college. If you are considering Vassar, do not hesitate to apply because you think your family cannot afford it. Use our Net Price Calculator to estimate your eligibility for financial aid from Vassar.

In addition, students should anticipate $2,250 for books, supplies, and personal expenses, and an allowance for transportation to and from the campus. Additional information about tuition, room and board, and other costs can be found on the Student Financial Services website.

Room and Board

In general, the college requires full-time students to live in college housing. Special permission to live off-campus may be granted by the Director of Residential Life in the spring for the following academic year. Housing assignments are secured through a room-draw process, which is based on academic seniority. Apartment units are generally not available to freshmen. Students living on campus are required to participate in a college board plan (also known as the meal plan). More information about the board plan can be found at

Student Activity Fee

Payment of this fee is required of all matriculated students. Student activity fees comprise the budget of the Vassar Student Association (student government) and provide funding for more than 100 student organizations and campus events.

Student Health Insurance

All students are required to have health insurance coverage. See Student Financial Services for more information.
