Diversity Outreach Programs

Vassar View is an overnight hosting program during the fall for high-achieving high school seniors that offers an immersive introduction to the Vassar College campus.  This all-expense paid program is open to students from traditionally under-represented groups: such as students from ethnically diverse backgrounds, students who are the first in their families to pursue a four-year college education, and those from families with limited financial resources.  During the three-day program, participants will take a tour, attend a class, learn about Vassar admissions and financial aid, eat in the dining hall, and explore our beautiful 1,000-acre campus. QuestBridge is a non-profit organization that connects high-achieving, motivated low-income students with educational and scholarship opportunities at some of the nation’s best colleges and universities. Vassar College has been a proud QuestBridge partner since 2007. Read more about QuestBridge at Vassar.

Transitions is a program created to support first generation, low income, and/or undocumented students. The program begins with a six-day pre-orientation program called Foundations, and continues throughout the participants’ Vassar careers with an ongoing peer mentoring program, culminating with a celebratory reception for graduating Transitions students. The pre-orientation program includes classes in three different academic departments, introductions to resources such as the library and career development, opportunities to connect with faculty members who in many cases were themselves first generation or low income, and team-building experiences that create bonds of friendship that will support them through their first year and beyond. Posse—Vassar is actively seeking to enroll qualified men and women who are veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces. In partnership with the Posse Foundation, Vassar was the first college to enroll veterans through the Posse Veterans Program, a program aimed at increasing enrollment of veterans at selective colleges and universities. Vassar also participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program to fund tuition and fee expenses that exceed the amounts payable under the Post-9/11 GI Bill®.
