Twenty-one Vassar alums who hold high-ranking positions in the financial services sector returned to campus on September 8 to give students an overview of the industry and an inside track on Wall Street internships. Organized by the Office of Career Development in cooperation with the Development Office, the second annual Careers in Financial Services Symposium offered concurrent sessions on investment banking, wealth management, hedge funds and private equity, sales and trading, and portfolio management and equity research. The Wall Street Immersion Program, a follow-up to the symposium, takes place in January. Interested students apply for the two-day intensive, featuring tours of several financial institutions, receptions hosted by Vassar alumnae/i, and opportunities to network. Last year, eight students secured summer internships as a result of this program.

This year, the Career Development Office is launching a parallel program in the entertainment industry, the LA Immersion Program, open to junior film majors. Participants will spend four days in LA over fall break, meeting with Vassar alumnae/i in the film and television industries.
