The Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center invites you to please join Barbara Page, professor of English, for our next Artful Dodger, this Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at noon. Barbara will present her talk "Poetry in Stone: Jenny Holzer's tribute to Elizabeth Bishop". We will meet outdoors, (rain or shine) as she will focus on the recently installed, site-specific sculputral commission, executed by the conceptual artist Jenny Holzer. The installation consists of 20 Laurentian green granite benches containing a separate inscription on each seat of published and unpublished verses by Alumna and Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Elizabeth Bishop, Vassar class of 1934. The benches are arranged on a landscaped path that runs from the central dining facility, (ACDC), where the talk will begin, to Main Building.
Please meet in front of the benches closest to ACDC promptly at noon. The favor of a reply to firstname.lastname@example.org is requested if you are planning to attend.
