In designing Vassar's new homepage, our goal was to keep a distinctive style, improve access to the college's more than 150 sites, and increase freshness with regularly changing highlights and photos conveying the breadth and richness of life at Vassar.
Among the many improvements, we've changed the text links to reflect the ones that are most frequently used, which makes those links easier to find. At the same time, we've gathered other links into categories like "Academic" and "Offices" which not only offer predictable menus like academic departments, but also related areas and occasional special highlights that our visitors might not have seen otherwise.
In addition, we've designed in a great deal of flexibility, so whatever turns out not to be a good idea can be adjusted as we go. New ideas and lots more info will now have a place. We expect to change the style of the homepage often, but not the basic set of elements that you see in the center of the page: masthead, search, links, and footer. That set will anchor lots of changing expressions of what Vassar is. Keep a check on it. You'll see more Vassar than ever before on our new homepage.
